Members participated in a performance in remembrance of the fall of Saigon in April 30, 1975. The performance was held in downtown, San Jose. It depicted the harshness and challenges that many boat refugees faced during their escape from Vietnam.
Members collected donations for local charities and walked in the 1999 Human 10k Race/ 5k Walk. The event was in held in San Jose. VAYF donated over $130 to Aid to Children Without Parents.
On August 20th - August 22nd, members attended an multicultural conference. VAYF also had a booth with information, food, and games. Fish Toss ! The event was held at Evergreen Valley College. Proceeds from the event was donated to ACWP to sponsor an child for corrective surgery.
In celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival, members participated in a variety of games and competition. The event was held on September 25th at the Guadalupe Parkway. VAYF won 2nd in the Cultural Talent Show.
VAYF and VAA, Vietnamese Alumni Association, hosted a college and career conference on November 13, 1999 at San Jose State University. The goal of the conference was to bridge the gap between high school students, college students and working professionals. Colleges and Organizations included San Jose State University, Santa Clara University, UC Davis, University of San Francisco, Stanford University, DeVry University, City Year and Evergreen Valley College.
VAYF members attended a Vietnamese American Empowerment Conference in San Francisco to discuss youth leadership. Moreover, other discussions included politics, voting, and the Vietnamese population.
